About:
Father, Forgive us for our sins... Easter Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 5:30am (Starting Point: Oakdale in Norbrook) "A pleasant 3+ hour walk to Hollywell. When we get to Hollywell, we'll hopefully have some breakfast (Gap Restaurant) and then head back down to Norbrook" Cost: $ 100.00 (estimated!!!) - park fees + refreshments @ the Gap (for your pocket) NOTE: Carry water, snacks & money. Wear comfortable clothing and sunscreen. No beer will be provided in Hollywell. No Down Downs are planned! If you DEFINITELY need beers for breakfast at Hollywell, carry them in your backpack! (HOWEVER: a beer party is being organized in picturesque Peters Rock on the way down!) For questions on biking, contact Wheel Nutz (wheelnutz@gmail.com) *From previous experience, don't depend on the Gap Restaurant being open when we get there. We'll try to tell them to expect us but we can't be sure... It is best to carry your own snacks/sandwiches etc. Easter Saturday Morning at 5:30am !!! Don't miss it! Question: "Hey, why are you guys starting at 5:30am ?" Answer: "Well...go figure...it's cooler at 5:30am. I don't think we need to go hiking all that way at midday... I don't know about you, but I haven't been THAT sinful
Registration:

How We Got There:
The Hike/Bike starts in Norbrook @ Big Mac's (Aston) house, 1 Oakdale (From Olivier Road, turn up Norbrook Road opposite the back gate of Immaculate High School. Continue along for about a mile (1.6km), keep to the left of the fork and go up. Look for the 4th road on the left after the fork, Oakdale Road.) The Hike: A very pleasant early morning walk! We start at Oakdale and from there we hike to Hollywell Park via Peters Rock & Woodford. This year, like previous years, we plan to stop at the Gap Restaurant* for Blue Mountain Coffee. We then rest a bit and do the return. Budget about 6+ hours total time.

Full Disclosure:
About the Gap Cafe: "...it was a favourite retreat of the late Sir Donald Sangster, and was also where Ian Flemming penned Dr. No. In the 1930's it served as a way station for buggy traffic, costing 10 shillings to stay overnight when cars were first introduced to Jamaica... Welcome to the Gap Cafe and its storied history - comfortably nestled at an altitude of 4,200 ft - where the Blue and John Crow mountains meet, close to the border of St. Andrew and Portland. Be prepared for the sudden drop in temperature... and for the thick fog of Hardware Gap to blanket the area like a colossal wave..." http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/magazines/food/Moonlight-Moments-_14567877 http://www.jamaicatourist.net/dining_out/page2/gap_cafe_JT14/ http://www.jamaicatravelandculture.com/destinations/the_blue_mountains/gap-cafe.htm http://www.frommers.com/destinations/jamaica%27sbluemountains/D51457.html
